Spring 2010 Anime Watchlist

Spring 2010 Anime Watchlist - 01

Spring is coming, this means new season of anime is coming too.

I’ll summarize a simple watchlist for the show that I’m gonna watch. This is not a list of my favourite show for the season or best of best. In fact, this is just a list of shows that I anticipated the most or to be simple, anime titles that I think suits my taste.

All information comes from AnimeNewsNetwork or MyAnimeList or Wikipedia except some images which come from other sources.

for complete list of Spring Anime 2010, try AnimeNewsNetwork, or Mr.Google.

Angel Beats!

Angel Beats!

P.A. Works

http://www.angelbeats.jp/

Summary: In a world after death, angels fight for their fate and their future. Yuri, the leader of the Shinda Sekai Sensen, rebels against the god who destined her to have an unreasonable life. On the otherhand, Tenshi, the chairperson of the student council for the world after death, battles against the SSS members. SSS members utilize armed weaponry to battle it out against the angels harnessing supernatural powers.

This anime holds my highest hope for this season. The main reason is because of the story and music are written and composed by Key’s Maeda Jun. Yeah I’m both Key & Maeda Jun fanboy, Key & Maeda Jun are Godlike, combining both = Beyond Godlike.

Something unusual is the production studio is not Kyoto Animation, hope everything will be alright. I’ll keep this series in track and blog about it (try my best…).

K-ON! season 2

K-ON! Season 2

Kyoto Animation

Summary: Season two of MOE anime K-ON! (watch it first if you haven’t.)

The first season was so great that I can’t wait for the second season.

SD Gundam Sangokuden

SD Gundam Sangokuden

Sunrise

The SD Gundam Sangokuden model series features the heroes of the Chinese literary classic Romance of the Three Kingdoms — only they have been re-imagined as two-head-high Super Deformed Gundam robots. Liu Bei (Ryū Bi) Gundam, Guan Yu (Kan U) Gundam, and Zhang Fei (Chō Hi) Gundam protect the legendary continent Mirisha from General Dong Zhuo (Tō Taku) Zaku, the assassin Hu Zhen (Ko Shin) Gyan, and other enemies.

I heard that the SD Gundam’s version of Romance of the Three Kingdoms is great. So I thought of giving this series a try…

Hakuouki

Hakuouki: Shinsengumi Kitan

Studio DEEN

(No website available yet)

Summary: The protagonist, Yukimura Chizuru is the daughter of a doctor who works in Edo. The father leaves Edo to work as a volunteer doctor and moves to Kyoto without his daughter. As time passes by, Chizuru starts worrying about losing contact with her father, so she decides to go to Kyoto in search of him. On the way, Chizuru is attacked by few criminals and witnesses a fight between an oni and the Shinsengumi. Taking her into custody and saving her, the Shinsengumi debate on what to do with Chizuru when they discover that she is the daughter of the doctor they are also looking for. So they decide to become Chizuru’s protectors and help her look for her father(the doctor). Lots of events happen while she stays with the Shingensumi, as they discover mysterious secrets and also fight against the Bakumatsu group. The story is overall romantic with a historical and political background.

I personally likes anime about history… If this series has bloody sword fights, then YES!!!

Senko no Night Raid

Senko no Night Raid

A-1 Pictures

http://www.1931.tv/

Summary: The story is set in Shanghai in 1931, when the Imperial Japanese Army has been dispatched to mainland China due to the relatively recent First Sino-Japanese War, Russo-Japanese War, and World War I. In this cosmopolitan city of intrigue, there is a special military spy organization called “Sakurai Kikan” that has since been buried in history.

China-Japan… What a sensitive topic… Nevertheless, there’s certainly included some twisted history…

Working!

Working!

A-1 Pictures

http://www.wagnaria.com/

Summary: Set in a family restaurant in Hokkaido, the northern prefecture of Japan, 16 year old high school student Takanashi Souta works part-time along with his strange co-workers: Taneshima Popura, a high school girl who’s a year older than Souta who’s easily mistaken for a elementary/middle schooler, and Shirafuji Kyoko, the 28-year old store manager who doesn’t bother to do any work at all.

Looks like a very relaxing slice-of-life anime… Give it a whirl whether it’s meaningful or not… might just be perfect for casual watching.

Kaichou wa Maid-sama!

Kaichou wa Maid-sama!

J.C.STAFF

http://www.tbs.co.jp/anime/maidsama/

Summary:The romantic comedy centres on the student council head named Misaki Ayuzawa who despises the mostly male, slovenly population at her school, which was once an all-boys school. However, Misaki’s most handsome schoolmate just discovered her secret — that she works after school at a maid café.

Shoujo anime is ok too…

B Gata H Kei

B Gata H Kei

Hal Film Maker

Summary: Yamada is a virgin high school student who dreams of having 100 casual sex partners. However, she ends up targeting and pursuing only one boy.

A virgin dreams of having 100 play thing? Now that’s something I never heard before…

Mayoi Neko Overrun!

Mayoi Neko Overrun!

AIC

http://www.patisserie-straycats.com/

Summary: The story revolves around Takumi Tsuzuki, a boy who lives with his older “sister” Otome, although the two have no blood ties between them. Otome manages a run-down confectionery store called Stray Cats. One day, Otome picks up a mysterious beautiful girl off the streets.

Another cat related anime… would drop it if the series start to go unreasonable…

Kiss X Sis

Kiss X Sis

Feel.

http://www.starchild.co.jp/special/kiss_sis/

Summary: Keita has two older step-sisters, Ako and Riko, but since they aren’t related by blood, they love him in a lustful way. After a mishap at school, Ako and Riko finally confess their love to him. Keita dislikes the thought of seeing them other then brother and sister, but as he tries to enter the same school as his sisters, he slowly becomes attracted to them.

Incest? LOL!!! Whose fantasy is this…

This concludes my watchlist for Spring season 2010. However, this doesn’t mean that I’m just going to watch these series only… I might add or drop any series depends on other people’s review. How about yours?

Post number one, a good start!

Finally decided to start my own blog. Everyone is doing it now-a-days. I’ve had some blogs before, but I always get shy and delete them in some time soon. I hope this will not end up like that. This blog will be mostly about gaming, drawing, anime and that sort of nerdy stuff. There’s not much more that is interesting enough to blog about.

To start off with some news: I started playing テニスの王子様 もっと学園祭の王子様 -More Sweet Edition- yesterday. I beat Amane Hikaru route and Ibu Shinji route. I think Amane has some really nice dialogue going on eventhough he is all about his “puns” or atleast that what was I thought until I played this one. His facial expressions were really cute too. Only bad thing was that Bane started caring for the main character too when she hanged with Amane. It was kinda sad. Going to work on Kaidou’s route next. I’m playing this because I used to be an Prince of  Tennis fanatic when I was younger but now I’m more into OC.

Hayate no Gotoku!

The Main Characters: Nagi and Hayate (center), Ayumu, Maria, and Hinagiku (big ones from left to right)

Hayate no Gotoku or Hayate the Combat Butler was one of those animes I watched on a reference from a Shakugan no Shana extra. It’s about the bad luck and debt ridden main character Hayaye Ayasaki, who has worked his whole life to make ends meet from his parents spending habits. One Christmas night after finding out that his parents ran away and sold him to the yakuza for his organs, he runs away and becomes desperate enough to try to kidnap for ransom money. The person he tries to kidnap is Sanzen’in Nagi, who misinterprets it for a love confession. While attempting to make a ransom call to the Sanzen’in house (which fails), Nagi gets kidnaped by a couple of goons, who gets stopped by Hayate. Before collapsing, he asks her to find him a job. Thats when Nagi decides the hire Hayate to be her butler.

This series was definitely one of my favorites as it was another parody/reference anime but with somewhat of a plot. What got me to start watching this was a Shakugan no Shana mini specials episode, where Nagi Sanzen’in was shown on Yuji’s head. From there, it was off to watching two seasons or 77 episodes of Hayate no Gotoku.

The first season (as I realize now follows the manga accurately) was filled with many parodies of other animes, references to real life scenarios made in a comical way, and not too much fanservice. Many of the references made in the show were censored (with the standard bleeping sound) due to broadcasting rights, but you could still get what the characters meant. Another thing I noticed about the show is how fanservice is limited (though the anime knows that and provides some from the lack thereof in a funny way). Most characters are not drawn over the top sexy, making them look almost normal in terms of a high schooler. The characters and their personalities seem to balance out quite well with one another, though the little misunderstandings that do happen make for great comedy. An example of this is how Nagi thinks that Hayate loves her romantically from the start of their meet, though the whole thing is a misunderstanding and mishaps ensue. Maria (Nagi’s maid) knows of the situation between the two but doesn’t know how to let both of them know about each others feelings. The plot of the first season is basically about Hayate’s experiences of learning to be a great butler, meeting new people and facing new obstacles along the way.

Season two has a couple of changes, notably the references to other anime are gone and the animation change between the first and second season. I still liked it like the first season, though the difference of how the characters were drawn bugged me a bit in the beginning but I got used to it eventually. This season was more focused on giving more story and love comedy than parody, but kept its style intact. You can also tell that the creators were also focusing on their fan favorite character, Hinagiku Katsura. She appeared a lot more than the previous season, even having the ending theme song being about her. I’m not complaining, I like her too, though a more balanced show of   the characters is good too.

Just today I realeased a piano melodies video of Hayate no Gotoku! Hope you enjoy the video.

Overall the whole series was always funny, providing a little action, love, and comedy wrapped up into a show called Hayate no Gotoku. It’s a great recommendation if you’re looking for a good love comedy manga/anime.

Dont use apparently with gay abandon

i swear to god people abuse the english language way too much.

I was sitting with my sister talking about the events of the week, and everytime i asked her about a detail that was off she would ramble off with “apparently thats what happened/occured” etc etc.

What happened to “i dont know”? or “im not too sure”? have we conciously forced our minds to act/try smart?

And in a general sense, people just have a phrase or statement they abuse beyond belief. Faux paus? I dont give a shit about fox paws, heck i dont give a shit about french.

I mean why do we have to use all this complicated and overtly abused phrases like “anyway” and like, “like”?

Like seriously.

I mean i can sit here and rub the salt into the wound or become a grammar nazi, both of which i do not want to do, but its just sometimes when you open your mouth just think first about what you are going to say.

As someone apparently said a long while back, “You have two ears and one mouth, use them in that proportion”

Natsume Takahashi Figure from ALTAIR

Remember how I was moaning about the lack of Natsume’s merchandise a year ago? The lovely people in ALTAIR has announced the pre-order of the figure Natsume from Natsume Yuujinchou!

Love Natsume’s expression! It looks exactly like the way he smiles in the anime… brings back that ‘curing’ feeling~ Moreover, his embroidery on his outer layer is painted so beautifully! This is a must get for me *_*!

The figure is scheduled to be released in July 2010. Damage to wallet is probably around 7000 yen ($80). The conventional sites for Japanese goods are not opened for pre-order yet, but they should be accepting pre-order soon.
