let's get down to business

howdy everyone!!

sorry for neglecting you, been so very very busy with tafe these last couple of weeks just haven’t had the time to sit down and update you all!

I’ve taken a few photographs from up and around the place wherever i’m walking, usually around the city and about newtown area and near my tafe at petersham/lewisham. I’ll post those pics up in this blog.

i’ll also let you know about some exhibitions and events coming up, including Mixed Business, the Wonderlust gallery and the Hip Hop Festival happening this week.

i’ll give you some visual candy for now-

these are some pieces that are around newtown. you have probably seen them, they’re on side streets off King St near the Marlborough Hotel. The ‘Alien’ arts are on Stephen St. I find these murals (that the right word?) interesting how there are different concepts, one being anime and the other being the creature from the Alien movies.

i really like the effect that they’ve put into this, can’t get my finger on it but i find really different for some reason. maybe the layout and the way it looks crazy and wild to fit in with the ‘Alien’ theme? leave a comment on your thoughts!

ALIEN!!

i’m amazed at how well this is done, looks like a photo has been stuck onto the wall. great sense of light and shading

still with the alien theme

to me this sort of looks like the ship in the movie. love the flying egg-laying creatures and eggs at the bottom

so they’re all the images i’ve got from newtown lately, hope you appreciate them as much as i do! :)

next up are some pictures i’ve taken from around Petersham and Lewisham

It’s a shame how some people try to ruin a perfectly artistic piece like in this photo, where there is a line of green paint run throughout the art.. nonetheless we can still admire the work :)

we shall now focus on the art exhibitions coming up this week, tomorrow arvo/night to be exact, where i will be attending the Wonderlust show at the Bicker Gallery in Paddington and the link is http://www.bickergallery.com/

The gallery opened last Thursday and has been described as

John Gould on magic mushrooms

and a link to give you an idea of what John’s work is like is http://www.johngould.com/. he was a skilled taxidermist and the creator of 2999 different paintings of birds and animals.

Wonderlust is free to attend and will be open 11am- 7pm Wednesdays to Sundays until the 27th March, so go have a look and i’ll be posting up a review of the work very shortly!
